eNewsletter
We are committed to celebrating more than just milestones, we are growing a program we all believe in and one that will continue to be the “Premier Sports Management Program in Canada”.
There will be ongoing updates and exciting news to share, including updates on the following:
Advisory Board
To maintain SPAD as the best, we will require the best curriculum, professors, internships and most importantly the best group of incoming students annually.
In order to help achieve these goals we have developed a formal SPAD Advisory Board, which was formed with the support and consultation of several notable alumni and whose goal will be to work with the university and connect with alumni to deliver the best sports management program in Canada.
With that, we are delighted to announce that Dale Hooper will become Chair of the Advisory Board. As a ‘91 SPAD grad, Dale brings enthusiasm and passion along with a successful career story to the Board. He will work closely with both the University and SPAD Leadership groups. We are looking forward to Dale helping recruit some great talent to the Board from the business community across Canada.
Events
The SPAD Alumni Golf Classic takes place in the summer and is typically in the Greater Toronto Area.
Bringing together ~100 graduates and students, this annual event is a great place to connect with our graduates.
SPAD Leaderboard
Our SPAD program stands at a pivotal point in its history. As we approach our 50th year, we believe that success can be attributed to our strong history, our incredible alumni network and the experience students gain through our program.
However, the world and our industry are rapidly changing, and we must have a vision and direction that differentiates our position in the sports management landscape and ensures we’re able to meet the needs of our students and alumni moving forward.
Now is the time for rebuilding and bold thinking and, in an effort to achieve these goals, we’ve created the SPAD Enhancement Fund. Working together, the SPAD Advisory Board and the department will put your money to work to invest in projects and initiatives to help ensure students continue to get the dynamic learning experience that you remember.
By donating today and joining our SPAD Leaderboard, your gifts will directly support the School of Sports Administration’s projects, strategies, and initiatives led by volunteers and the program.
Alumni Profiles
As part of their coursework, SPAD students have been writing profiles on our graduates for the past three years. There are over 50 profiles on our graduates, as written by third year students.
Leadership
Tom Blake, Lecturer and graduate of SPAD’s inaugural class in 1976
“SPAD was created because the NHL wanted people with a passion for sport and business acumen to come in and run the business, rather than simply former players. Today, we’re delivering on that original mission while producing top quality business professionals.
We invite you all to complete the play; provide your information, engage with SPAD and support SPAD in being the Premier Sports Management Program in Canada.”
