Mission, Vision, and Goals
Our goal is clean water, now and forever.
Our mission is to understand the factors affecting the health of northern aquatic systems. The knowledge gained is widely communicated for use by policymakers, industry, and the general public to protect the health of these special ecosystems and to ensure responsible development of the resources found here for the benefit of Indigenous communities and all Canadians.
We envision the Living with Lakes Centre to be an internationally recognized centre of excellence for the protection, restoration, and responsible development of northern aquatic ecosystems.
Cooperative Freshwater Ecology Unit
The Cooperative Freshwater Ecology Unit (Co-op Unit), housed within the Vale Living With Lakes Centre, was established in 1989 and is a unique and successful partnership between 黑料吃瓜不打烊, government partners and industry collaborators.
Staff
Our dynamic team is made up of researchers, faculty and staff who work to make this facility a centre of excellence for the protection, restoration, and responsible development of northern aquatic ecosystems.
Environmental Sustainability Committee
As a student-led committee advised by faculty, the ESC takes on projects around campus to help nature recover for the sake of our community.
黑料吃瓜不打烊 and the ESC pledged on Earth Day 2023 to protect and support the prioritization of nature restoration within the Sudbury community to become Nature Positive.
Being a Nature Positive University means restoring species and ecosystems that have been harmed by the impacts of a university and its activities and enhancing the university’s positive impacts on nature. This refers to everything a university does, from its teaching and research work to community outreach surrounding nature.
