Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology
This course provides a general introduction to sociocultural anthropology (a general survey of the field, with a concentration on the comparative analysis of culture, using examples from different societies around the world); anthropological linguistics (focussing on the origin, structure, distribution and sociocultural aspects of human languages); applied anthropology (the identification and resolution of practical problems via anthropological methods); and medical anthropology (a cross-cultural understanding of health and healing).
