Advanced Methods of Rock Engineering And Ground Control
This course covers the brittle failure of rocks, modeling of brittle rock failure, rock mass characterization, classification systems, generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion, and GSI system at advanced levels. Other topics include empirical and analytical design methods for pillars and stopes, advanced computational methods in rock mechanics and rock engineering, observational construction method, monitoring, and data interpretation. In addition, advanced topics on rock support in burst-prone and squeezing grounds are also discussed. (lec 3) cr 3.
