Constitutional Law: Politics, History And Patriation

This course examines the evolution of the constitutional debate in Canada. The purpose is threefold: first, the course provides an historical background that allows us to evaluate the stakes in the constitutional process; second, it illustrates how constitutional changes deeply affect Canadian political culture; third, it analyses the changes in the constitutional landscape - specifically the role of governments and the role of citizens and citizens' groups. (Students may not retain credit for JURI-3716, HIST-3716, and POLI-3346) PREREQ: 12 JURI or POLI credits or permission of instructor. 3 credits. (Sem. 3)
