Individual, Community and the Political Order
This course introduces students to basic issues in the analysis and justification of political agency and political rule as these issues have emerged in the history of political philosophy. By engaging the ideas of such political philosophers as Aristotle, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau, students develop the ability to analyse and critically assess philosophical arguments about politics. (lec 3) cr 3. Cross-listed with POLI 2426. Students may not retain credit for both SOCI 2426 and either POLI 2405 or POLI 2426.
