Biography

Dr. Jennifer Straub's appointment with?黑料吃瓜不打烊 ended as of May 15th, 2021. She was?a tenure-track professor in the School of Education. She holds?a?PhD in Education Studies from the University of New Brunswick. Her doctoral research?used a phenomenographic approach to?explore?the cognitive frames that?pre-service teachers?held about?citizenship.?She has been a classroom teacher (OCT 1998) and Vice-Principal. She?has also taught in the pre-service programs at the University of New Brunswick (2013) and Nipissing University (2008-2018). Most recently, Dr. Straub received a Recognition Award from?The Canadian Society for the Study of Education/La Société canadienne pour l'étude de l'éducation: Canadian Association for Teacher Education (CATE) for her doctoral dissertation?entitled Pre-service Teachers' Understanding of Citizenship.?

Research

Dr. Straub's research relates to?Social Studies,?Pre-service?Teacher Education and Phenomenography. She is the principal researcher?for the project: FSL Language Proficiency of Concurrent Education Teacher Candidates: A Targeted Approach in Yr. 1-2 of a 5 year Program. This project is part of a larger initiative?lead by?the Ontario Public School Board Association and funded by the Government of Ontario and the Department of Canadian Heritage funding.?
