Book an appointment
There are a few ways that you can book a counselling appointment. You can contact the Intake Coordinator by calling 705-673-6506, by e-mailing counselling@laurentian.ca, or you can book an appointment in person on the second floor of the R.D. Parker Building Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (September-April) or 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m (May-August).
Frequently Asked Questions
Confidential, short-term counselling services are offered free of charge to all currently enrolled students.
If you anticipate the need to miss an appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. Except in emergency situations, it is your responsibility to inform the counsellor or the Intake Coordinator at least 24 hours in advance so that the time can be made available to others. Please note that if you do not attend your appointment, you may have to wait until the next available appointment with your counsellor due to the high volume of requests for counselling services.
It is helpful if you come prepared with specific concerns or problems that you would like to discuss. It can also be helpful if you have a specific goal that you would like to achieve during your sessions.
Allow for 45 to 50 minutes for your first visit with a counsellor as we will:
- provide information about what to expect from the counselling process;
- discuss your presenting issues and concerns;
- develop a plan with you for counselling and/or referral to services on or off campus which best meet your needs.
If you would like more information about counselling services, you are invited to schedule a 15 minute appointment with a counsellor, who will explain the services that are available and answer any questions you may have.
